What you'll learn

The Entry-Level Dental Assistant performs many tasks, ranging from patient care to record keeping in a general dental office under the direct supervision of the Dentist. Entry-Level Dental Assistants work in general or specialty dental practices such as Orthodontists, Endodontists, and Periodontists offices. This program will provide the knowledge needed for a beginner in dental assisting. After satisfactory completion, passing all academic and skills testing the student will receive a certificate for Entry-Level Dental Assisting. A Entry-Level Dental Assistant is employable in any general or specialty business or clinical position.

The instruction is by lecture, lab and externship experience. The Dental Assisting program student will complete clinical and laboratory procedures for a period of 16 weeks. In conjunction with physicians and other healthcare personnel, the student will complete up to, but not limited to 160 observation/externship hours, during the course, under direct supervision. The student will obtain hands-on experience in both the clinical and administrative areas of dental assisting. After satisfactory completion, passing all academic and skills testing, and completing the clinical/externship requirements, the student will receive a certificate for the Entry-Level Dental Assisting Program.
